Volunteers make a difference at the Rochester Senior Center! The Rochester Senior Center has many volunteer opportunities available ranging from daily to annual events. The Agency depends on the help of volunteers to offer the numerous programs that are available at the Rochester Senior Center.

Generally, there are no physical requirements for volunteer work at the Senior Center; volunteers with physical limitations are welcome. If interested in any volunteer position seen below or being on our Special Events Roster, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (507) 424-6408 unless otherwise stated.

Please Note - training and orientation are provided for all volunteer positions.

All Volunteers: We very much appreciate your support and ask that you record your hours of volunteer service. An on-line tool is now available to enable you to record your hours from any computer with internet access. If you need assistance, please email our Volunteer Coordinator or call 507-424-6408. Thank you.

CURRENT SENIOR CENTER OPPORTUNITIES

Substitute Gift Shop Volunteers

We are currently seeking volunteers to comprise a list of substitutes for our Gift Shop. This is a “fun” volunteer activity in a pleasant environment.
When our regular Gift Shop Volunteers are not able to come, it is most helpful to have a list of “substitutes” we can call to fill in.  To come or not come when called, would be your choice.
You would be oriented to the Gift Shop by Laurie, the Manager, or another experienced volunteer.
The responsibilities consist of:

  • welcoming & assisting customers
  • completing sales procedures
  • make change
  • have a readable handwriting
  • have a welcoming smile

If this is something you would like to consider, please call Laurie at 507-424-6408 for further information.

Decorators

Celebrating seasons of the year and holidays are a large part of our culture. Decorating for these events is fun and keeps our lives and surroundings from becoming ho-hum. How often we take something for granted when it never changes. Please help us to fight HO-HUM and volunteering for the Decorating Committee. This committee would help plan, create and decorate for different events, seasons and holidays at the Center. No special talents needed to volunteer, just a willing soul and a helping hand.

Flamingo Bingo

Handyman - help with repair & maintenance of bingo equipment.
For more information, please call 507-282-0988.

Special Events Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to assist with Special Events. These opportunities include setting up for birthday or holiday parties, helping with mailings, working at fundraising events, or other duties as they become available.

If you would like to be on our Special Events Volunteer Roster and contacted when an opportunity arises, please provide your name, address, phone number and areas of interest to the Business Office. Information can either be sent:

  • Via E-mail

  • Returned to the Business Office or

  • Be mailed to Rochester Senior Center, Attn: Special Events Volunteer, 121 N. Broadway, Rochester MN 55906.
